Ft. Parker State Park
Ft. Parker is one of the State Parks nearest to Dallas. It’s a small park with only 24 water & electric sites but it’s also one of the quietest parks I’ve been to. Most of the sites overlook the lake. Water fowl are in abundance and I’ve also seen some spectacular flocks of brown bats, hop- scotching across the reeds. You can paddle across the lake and explore the Navasota River or check out the historic frontier fort next door and learn about Texas history.
My daughter & I have reserved one site and want others with teenage kids to join us. As of now, there are only four other sites available so you better act quickly if you want to go.
