Join us for a Memorial weekend campout at a privately owned country property. It’s just one hour east of Dallas so you can come out for the day or the weekend. This will be primitive tent camping on 31 acres of dense woods with creeks, ponds, trails and lot’s of wildlife. There are no fees and very few rules- pack out your garbage and don’t pee in my ponds. No dogs over 30 lbs. and if your dog presents a threat to my little dog, the children, wildlife or the peace and tranquility of the event, you will be asked to leave. I will be renting a porta potty for the weekend and providing a smoked brisket for Saturday’s dinner so there will be a tip jar on the bar for contributions to help with the costs. This is a kid friendly event but parents must keep an eye on their kids and dogs. It’s a jungle where wandering little ones could get lost quickly. We will be swimming and fishing in the ponds but there are no lifeguards so it’s each parent’s responsibly to watch their children. Parents must provide their kids with appropriate footwear, flashlights and instruction on avoiding stepping on anything they shouldn’t. I will provide kayaks, floats and a paddleboard for little kids. There is an outdoor cold water shower. There is one communal fire pit next to the front pond, others can be dug but at the end of the weekend they must be filled in with no indication that they were there. We will do our traditional potluck luck dinner Saturday night. You will be able to drive on the property to unload your gear, and then move your vehicle to a designated parking area. If heavy rains proceed the event you might not be able drive back so carrying your gear from the parking area will be necessary.
