Waco Mammoth National Monument
Let’s tour the Waco Mammoth National Monument. This paleontological site represents the nation’s only recorded discovery of a nursery herd of Columbian mammoths. Visitors can view “in situ” fossils including female mammoths, a bull mammoth, and a camel that lived approximately 67,000 years ago.
June 10th – 10:45am meet at the Waco Mammoth National Monument.
After the monument, explore downtown Waco, go back to the campgrounds or head home.
You can make this a day trip or camp at Airport park, Waco, Texas. Reserve your site soon June 9 -11 https://www.reserveamerica.com/camping/airport-park/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&parkId=71001#sr_a
Airport Park information – I visited with the park host and the beach site at Airport park is closed. If you want to spend some time in the water she suggested Twin Bridges Park (about 5 minutes away). Twin Bridges Park, located on the west shore of Lake Waco on the South Bosque River, was formerly known as Speegleville III Park. Park activities include: boating, swimming, picnicking and fishing. Two swim beaches, a four lane boat ramp, a covered playground and pavilion are available. The park is open to day use activities, only.
